How to Download AION 2: Steam & PURPLE, Step by Step

Two official doors: Steam or PURPLE

AION 2 is PC-exclusive at launch, free-to-play with in-app purchases, and runs the same servers on both storefronts: Steam (App ID 3393110) and PURPLE, NCsoft's own cross-platform launcher. The client content is identical; what differs is your account ecosystem. Steam gives you familiar payments and library management, while PURPLE is NC's direct channel with shorter lines to official events and support. Progress does not carry between the two, so pick one door and stay with it.

Steam is region-locked in some countries

If searching "AION 2" on Steam shows "this item is currently unavailable in your region," your storefront is region-locked. The game itself is fully playable once installed — the lock only guards the store page. There are two legitimate ways through:

• Switch your store region: connect through a game accelerator or VPN exit node in a supported country (Japan or the US both work), then change your Steam store country in Account Details or via the cart, and add the game to your library. Some accelerators bundle a one-click "add to library" feature that skips the manual region switch.
• Register a foreign-region account: create a fresh Steam account while connected to the target region, and keep the game in that account's library. It keeps your main account untouched and is the least likely route to trip Steam's risk controls.

Whichever route you take, keep the accelerator connected during the whole process — hopping regions back and forth in short succession is exactly the pattern Steam's fraud detection flags.

The PURPLE route

Download the PURPLE launcher from NC's global site (aion2.plaync.com), register an NC account, and install AION 2 from your library. The official site may fail to load or redirect from certain regions — the same accelerator with an overseas node fixes that. PURPLE suits players planning to settle in for the long haul: official events, customer support and future NC titles all live on this channel.

Before you hit install: clear 100GB, on an SSD

AION 2 is a full-fat UE5 client. Reserve at least 100GB, and it must be a solid-state drive — a mechanical HDD does not merely load slowly, it can produce texture pop-in and asset errors in flight zones. With a download-acceleration node active, the multi-hour download compresses to tens of minutes. Do two things before your server opens: finish the pre-load, and decide your region ahead of time.

Launch timing and access

The global servers opened for Founder's Pack owners on September 30 (Advanced Access) and went fully free-to-play on October 5. An open stress test ran on September 17–18 — none of that matters now: there is no application, key or invite required. Download and play.

Safety: official installers only

Region-locked markets breed third-party "pre-cracked" or "localized" installers in search results, and the overwhelming majority carry account stealers or trojans. There is never a legitimate reason for a third-party AION 2 installer: both Steam and PURPLE are free. Your account's value grows with every hour you invest — do not hand it to an unknown exe at the download step.

Download FAQ

Where do I download AION 2?

On PC there are only two official entries: Steam (App ID 3393110) and the PURPLE launcher, both on the same servers. The mobile version is a separate build with its own store pages.

Steam says AION 2 is unavailable in my region — what now?

That is the region lock: connect an accelerator or VPN through a supported country, then either switch your store region or use a foreign-region account, and search "AION 2" again.

How big is the download, and can my PC run it?

The client is around 100GB; a full-speed accelerated download takes tens of minutes to two hours. Hardware starts at a GTX 1050 Ti — see the system requirements guide for the full picture.
