How the Spacetime Rift works
The rift is a portal that opens into the enemy faction's territory — Elyos portals spawn in Verteron and Eltnen, Asmodian portals in Altgard and Morheim. The mechanics that matter when you are racing the clock:
- Cycle: every 3 hours, eight times a day (02 / 05 / 08 / 11 / 14 / 17 / 20 / 23 server time). The December 2025 update shortened it from the old four-hour cycle — any guide still saying "every 4 hours" is out of date.
- Entry window: the portal accepts players for about 15 minutes, then closes. The rift window itself lasts up to 1 hour for those already inside.
- Capacity: 400 players per rift (doubled from 200 in the same patch). On fresh servers, prime-time rifts can still fill — be at the portal before it spawns.
- Unlock: the Spacetime Rift quest appears at level 22; the content realistically matters from level 45.
- War Mode: PvP is opt-in. Toggle War Mode inside your own territory (70-minute cooldown) — rifting no longer means forced PvP.
Why rifts are worth an alarm
Rifting is the repeatable trickle of Abyss Points once your weekly caps are spent, and the enemy faction's map hides progression you cannot finish at home: additional Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds and rift-gated regional quests, plus stigma-shard quests you can complete and walk away from. With War Mode off, a rift run is closer to a raid on the quest log than a PvP gamble.
Boss and reset times worth the same alarm
The rift is not the only thing on a fixed clock. These are the other recurring spawns and resets on the Korea service (server time); the global server clock has not been officially published yet — we will update the moment NC confirms it.

Rift timer FAQ
How often do rifts open in AION 2?
Every 3 hours — eight times a day at 02:00, 05:00, 08:00, 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, 20:00 and 23:00 server time. The cycle was shortened from 4 hours in the December 2025 update.
Do the Korea and Taiwan servers have different rift times?
The clock schedule is identical, but Korea runs on UTC+9 and Taiwan on UTC+8, so the same rift happens one hour apart in real time. Use the toggle at the top of this page to match your server.
What time does the rift open on global servers?
NC has not officially published the global (NA / EU / LATAM / Asia) rift clock yet. The schedule above is the verified KR/TW cadence; if your global server follows the same clock, anchor to the nearest option and we will update once NC confirms.
How long do I have to enter a rift?
The entry portal stays open for about 15 minutes after spawning, with a 400-player cap. Once you are inside, the rift window lasts up to 1 hour.
Do I need an account to use this rift timer?
No. The timer runs entirely in your browser, converts to your device time zone automatically, and is free. The optional alert uses browser notifications and only works while this tab stays open.
