AION 2 Leveling Guide: The Fastest 1–45 Route
The global version caps at level 45 at launch (Korea and Taiwan sit at 50 after their Chapter 1 update). A focused player can reach 45 in three to four hours of efficient play; a relaxed first playthrough takes around twelve. This route is the efficient version — every step that matters, and everything you can safely skip.

The route at a glance
| LEVELS | WHAT TO DO | NOTES |
|---|---|---|
| 1–20 | Episode Quests only | Skip cutscenes if rushing. Ignore Regional Quests unless you fall behind the recommended level. |
| 20 | Krao Cave | First dungeon stop. A couple of runs smooth out the curve and gear you for your first Ascension. |
| 22 | Ascension I — "The One Who Hears the Voice" | Grants Intermediate Daeva Wings and your first Stigma slots. Do it immediately — flight changes everything. |
| 22–28 | Episode Quests | Use flight to skip ground travel. Keep hoarding reward cubes and Odyle Energy. |
| 28 | Urugugu Canyon | Second dungeon checkpoint. Good XP and pre-30 gear. |
| 32 | Ascension II — "The One Who Dreams" | Superior Daeva Wings and more Stigma slots. Your kit is now functionally complete. |
| 32–35 | Episode Quests | Short stretch. Resist opening cubes — you are close now. |
| 35 | Fire Temple | The classic. Farm it until the Episode chain moves you on; the gear carries into the 40s. |
| 35–45 | Episode Quests + Fire Temple fills | The longest stretch. Fill XP gaps with dungeon runs and Regional Quests near quest hubs. |
| 45 | Ascension III → Draupnir → Abyss | Final Ascension, then endgame: Draupnir runs, open your saved cubes, spend Odyle Energy, and enter the Abyss. |
Why Episode Quests first
Episode Quests are tuned to carry you to the cap with the fewest hours played, and they gate your Ascensions, inventory expansions, and system unlocks. Regional Quests and open-world grinding exist to fill the gaps when the Episode chain asks you to come back at a higher level — nothing more. Players who clear every green quest on the map take roughly twice as long to reach 45.
The Ascension quests are not optional
At 22 and 32, the Ascensions grant your wings and Stigmas — the largest power spikes in the game. The 45 Ascension opens your endgame kit. If you out-level an Ascension quest and skip it, you are actively making the rest of the route harder. The moment an Ascension appears in your quest log, everything else waits.
What to save while leveling
Three things should leave your inventory untouched until 45: reward cubes (they scale with level and have a weekly claim limit), Odyle Energy (worth far more in endgame content than in low-level zones), and enhancement materials for gear you will replace within days. The beginners who feel rich at the cap are the ones who spent nothing on the way there.
Early Access vs. launch-day start
Founder's Pack owners start on September 30 with five days of Early Access. If you are in that wave, the economy advantage is real: named characters, early Market listings, and first-week dungeon drops all sell at a premium. Launch-day players should not panic, though — the second wave of "Launch Servers" opens with the October 5 crowd on a level field, and the route above works identically on both. Dates and times are on the release date page.
Playing with high ping?
Leveling is forgiving at any latency, but dungeon mechanics at 35+ are not. If you are playing cross-region, favor classes that cope with delay — Spiritmaster and Cleric are the standouts — and read the high ping guide before your first Fire Temple run.
