AION 2 Tier List — Best Classes Right Now
This tier list is built from Korean server data after the September 2 Great Rebalance, cross-checked against the October 2026 global-launch build. Ratings are split by game mode because the answer to 'what is the best class in AION 2' genuinely depends on whether you mean dungeon damage, Abyss warfare, or solo farming.
Snapshot 2026-10-01 · Post-rebalance

Short answer: the safest picks
If you just want a strong, future-proof main: Assassin, Ranger and Sorcerer top the overall versatility ranking. If you want the easiest life in groups, Cleric is the most in-demand class in the game — every party wants one, and it performs well even on bad ping.
Overall Versatility
SNAPSHOT 2026-10-01
| TIER | CLASSES | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| S | Assassin · Ranger · Sorcerer | High damage with a clear combat identity and strong solo or PvP potential. |
| A | Templar · Cleric · Gladiator · Spiritmaster · Chanter | Reliable role value: tanking, healing, bruiser damage, control and buffs. |
| B | — | No class falls to B overall — the roster’s power band is narrow. |
Blended across PvE, PvP, solo progression and group demand — a versatility ranking, not a raw DPS chart.
PvE Damage (KR raid logs)
SNAPSHOT 2026-10-01
| TIER | CLASSES | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| S | Assassin · Sorcerer | Assassin burst windows and Sorcerer stationary damage top the boards. |
| A | Spiritmaster · Ranger | Spiritmaster outperforms its parse in real fights; Ranger sustains over long encounters. |
| B | Gladiator · Chanter | Gladiator parses well but loses damage to mechanics; Chanter’s value is buffs, not meters. |
| C | Templar · Cleric | Tank and healer — lowest personal damage, highest group demand. Different job. |
Korean dungeon/raid performance, September 2026 snapshot. Dummy parses overrate stationary classes; logs overrate nothing.
Group PvE Value (dungeons & raids)
SNAPSHOT 2026-10-01
| TIER | CLASSES | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| S | Cleric · Templar | The only healer and the only true tank — permanent demand. |
| A | Chanter · Gladiator | Chanter buffs lift the whole party; Gladiator is durable melee with off-tank utility. |
| B | Assassin · Spiritmaster · Ranger · Sorcerer | All four are fine damage picks; groups take whichever parses best this patch. |
What organized groups actually invite: survival, tanking, healing and buffs count more than personal DPS.
PvP (arena & Abyss leaderboards)
SNAPSHOT 2026-10-01
| TIER | CLASSES | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| S | Gladiator · Assassin | Gladiator mixes damage, durability and active block; Assassin deletes isolated targets. |
| A | Templar · Cleric · Sorcerer | Templar controls frontlines, Cleric decides coordinated fights, Sorcerer pressures from range. |
| B | Chanter · Ranger · Spiritmaster | Team-dependent or mode-dependent: strong showings, lower averages. |
KR/TW Questlog leaderboard averages across Solo Arena, Team Arena and Abyss. The most volatile table on this page.
Solo Play & Farming
SNAPSHOT 2026-10-01
| TIER | CLASSES | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| S | Spiritmaster · Gladiator · Ranger | Pets, durability or kiting — each farms alone at full speed. |
| A | Assassin · Sorcerer | Fast clears when ahead, punished when under-geared. |
| B | Templar · Cleric · Chanter | Safe but slow: group classes paying the solo tax. |
Independence, survivability and farming comfort when you play without a fixed group.
Pick by how you play
The mode-by-mode tables matter more than any overall ranking. Find your situation below:
| YOUR GOAL | PICK | WHY |
|---|---|---|
| First character / beginner | Templar · Ranger · Cleric | Forgiving defenses, safe range, or self-healing — and permanent group demand. |
| Solo leveling & farming | Ranger · Gladiator · Spiritmaster | Kiting, bruiser durability, or pets that tank for you. |
| PvP burst & duels | Assassin | Stealth, mobility and the highest single-target burst. |
| Dungeon groups | Templar · Cleric · Chanter | Tank, healer and buffer are always short in the queue. |
| Playing from a high-ping region | Cleric · Spiritmaster · Sorcerer | Healing timelines, pets and casted play survive latency; Assassin suffers most. |
Recent balance history
NCSoft has patched aggressively since the Korean launch. These are the changes that shaped the current meta — global launched on the post-rebalance balance state.
| DATE | PATCH | IMPACT |
|---|---|---|
| 07.08 | PvP damage pass | PvP damage reduced by roughly 30% across the board to slow arena time-to-kill. |
| 08.12 | Healing rework | Heal range extended from 25m to 40m; individual heal output retuned (−20% to −50% depending on the skill). |
| 09.02 | The Great Rebalance | Roster-wide skill retune — the reason every tier list quotes a snapshot date. |
| 09.23 | Anti-macro pass | Detection wave against input broadcasting and automation; economy enforcement tightened. |
A warning about tier lists
AION 2 is balanced in month-sized swings, and the gap between S and B tier is smaller than the gap between a geared player and an ungeared one. Pick a class you enjoy watching for 200 hours — then check back here after each balance patch. We update this page whenever the meta moves.
